Fall Skirting Classes
After a successful Spring launch, we are happy to be back for the Fall clip. Here's your chance to help Maine farmers go from freshly shorn sheep to a skirted fleece that’s ready for processing.
Wild Fibers Weaving
A no rules weaving class using a global collection of plant and animal fibers including fleeces of curly wools, mohair, bison, cashmere, plant fibers, paper, raw silk, cocoons, feathers, roving, handspun yarn and so much more. Students only need to bring their creativity. All materials included.
About the instructor: With a background in clothing design and manufacturing Jessi Sader has curated a collection of rare and unique plant and animal fibers from around the world. Jessi is heavily inspired by nature and the relationships of animals and plants to their environments, the people who live with them, and the fiber process. She shares time in central and northern Maine where she gets "Lost In The Woods" at her fiber studio.

Join us in Rhinebeck for the New York Sheep & Wool Festival, a weekend celebrating fiber arts, regional craftsmanship, workshops, demonstrations, local food, and a curated marketplace of handmade goods.
Find us in the 4-H building alongside our Fibershed affiliate partners. Many thanks to Maine Fibershed hat maker and leather artisan Carol Frechette, who is representing MEFS at Rhinebeck! Carol will be doing demonstrations on a small needle felting machine and have samples of her products, as well cards and samples from Moorit Hill Farm, an Iceland sheep farm and fiber mill in Troy, ME.
